Paint two cabochons to give them the appearance of being eyes. Please see the video from
Stiltbeast Studios on YouTube for how to paint an eye. Once the paint on the eyes has dried, you can use a hot glue gun to attach them on the inside of the head in the eye socket(s).
Spray the inside of the mask with water, followed by a layer of foam sealant and spray some water on top.
While waiting for the foam sealant to set in the mask, you can spray water into a couple of rubber gloves and then fill them with foam sealant. You will need to check them after a few minutes to determine if they are starting to set, so you will be able to shape them into your desired position.
Once the foam sealant in the mask has hardened, you can apply more water, using the spray bottle, and more foam sealant to fill in where the shoulders would be located, followed by more water sprayed on top, to help speed the drying process.
When the hands have hardened, you can paint them using acrylic paints to give them the appearance that you desire. It is recommended to do a base coat of a skin tone, allow that to dry, and then proceed with layering all of the different colors individually until you have reached the top coat of paint. Using a spray bottle on wet paint allows you to create a drip effect, if desired.
After the mask has the finalized shape that you would like to have for it, carefully spray paint the foam sealant with flat/matte black paint, while trying to avoid getting any on the mask directly. You can also apply some black spray paint near the base of the hands, where it will be giving the appearance of coming out of the ground.
Apply clear Elmer's glue to the spray paint, after it has dried, and cover the glue with mulch. Using a spray bottle with 50 percent water and 50 percent clear glue, coat the applied mulch and allow it to dry. You will want to do this same thing for the hands. Please note, you will want to allow a few days for the glue to fully dry. If you feel that more mulch is required, then just repeat this process.
